Blair Ligon

Ligon won his first art prize in 1962 and built his first computer from a kit in1966. In 1989 he became the first computer artist to be juried into Raleigh’s Artspace after receiving an Emerging Artists Grant from the City of Raleigh Arts Commission that same year.

His art and design clients have included IBM, General Foods, the NC Museum of History, International Paper, Progress Energy and the UCLA Medical School.

He also teaches and has served on the faculties of Wake Technical College, the NCSU College of Design and Meredith College.

Ligon has received more than 20 awards for computer images and other artworks and has been a juror for numerous art exhibitions.

In 2009 he was awarded “First Place, Digital Media,” in The Artist’s Magazine’s Online International Competition.

He holds a master’s degree in product design and a bachelor’s in psychology.

Ligon grew up all over the U.S. and Europe as an Air Force brat. He has lived in North Carolina since 1978.
