Greetings Fellow Artists and Art Lovers!!

What a treat we have this month at the Clayton Center.

Children’s book authors and illustrators Jo Lee Tucker and Lisa Bailey will have their latest publication artwork on display for the month of November.

The final touches for one of our signature events, “Christmas in Clayton”, are in the works right now. The homes in Glen Laurel and the artists have been selected. Everyone is excited as they prepare for your visit! Be sure to keep checking the website and Facebook for detailed information.

Artist Call for 2018 Exhibition

Apply to show your artwork at The Clayton Center in 2018.

Now is your chance to apply to be part of the 2018 exhibit line-up. Interested artists or artist-groups are invited to apply for a show by sending a resume, a portfolio of 4-6 images and a non-refundable application fee of $10 to the Exhibits Committee. Submissions may be photographs, preferably submitted in .jpg format by email, .jpgs on a CD, or images on a specified website. Each image should show a single piece of art with minimal background. We recommend images be taken with a high quality camera with the longest side of about 2000 pixels. The images must be representative of the type of work the artist plans to exhibit.
Deadline has been extended: All items (resume, portfolio of images, application, and fee) must reach the committee by 5 p.m. Wednesday, November 15th, 2017. Learn more here.

Christmas in Clayton Art & Home Tour

The Christmas in Clayton Art & Home Tour is coming December 3rd!

This year’s Art & Home Tour revisits the location of the first Christmas Tour in 2012–Glen Laurel Subdivision. Visitors will have a chance to meet ten local artists while touring the five beautifully decorated homes. The Club Restaurant, located at the golfing headquarters, will be open and serving sandwiches and beverages. Fine Art gifts such as pottery, jewelry, knitted/woven accessories, paintings, photography, note cards, Ukranian eggs and much more will be for sale at this event. Visitors will check into the Clubhouse for maps. The Tour lasts from 3pm to 7pm. Follow Facebook’s Christmas in Clayton page for the latest news.

Proceeds from ticket sales benefit local public school art projects through the Dorothy Demboski Teacher Assistance Grants.

November Exhibit at The Clayton Center

This month’s exhibit features illustrative artwork by authors/illustrators Lisa Bailey and Jo Lee Tucker.

CVA members Lisa Bailey and Jo Lee Tucker will have their lively mixed media artwork on display at The Clayton Center in November. Call to Artists: Pathways

Artists 16 and up can enter CVA’s first Themed Show, Pathways

For only $10, you can be part of the December exhibit at The Clayton Center. Artists may enter one piece of his/her original 2D artwork. No pre-registration.

Prizes: $150, $100, $50
Delivery date: Monday, December 4th, 10am-12pm & 4pm-6pm
Location: The Clayton Center, 111 E 2nd St, Clayton
Fee: $10 cash or check upon delivery; no preregistration
Reception & Awards: Thursday, December 7th, 6-7:30pm
Exhibit duration: December 5th—January 2nd

Artists age 16 and up are eligible to enter.
Original artwork will depict each artist’s interpretation of the theme, Pathways, in any 2D media including photography.
Artwork must be wired (no saw-tooth hangers) and ready to hang. Weight cannot exceed 35 lbs. CVA reserves the right to refuse artwork that it feels is not appropriate for family viewing.

Memorial exhibit of artwork by CVA founding member, Carolyn Howard, will also be on display for the December exhibit.

CVA member, Janie Prete wins Arts of the Pamlico Award

Prete wins the Creative Illusions Award

Janie Prete has won the award for best abstract artwork at the Arts of the Pamlico 53rd Annual Fine Arts Show for Echoes of a Fallen Tree. This juried show, located at the Turnage Theater Gallery in Washington, NC runs until November 26th

CVA member Don Stephenson is exhibiting his artwork at the Frank Creech Gallery as part of  Colors of Nature and More. Show runs until December 3rd.

Frank Creech Gallery is located at Johnston Community College and is only open on Saturdays and Sundays. For hours and more information, visit the website.

CVA member, Heidi-Lee Peach is the Featured Artist Skylines Cafe

See Heidi-Lee Peach’s acrylics and watercolors while enjoying a meal at Skylines Cafe in Clayton.

Peach also has her artwork on display at the Clayton Bakery, just a few doors down from the restaurant.

Skylines Cafe is suite #100,  8878 U.S. 70 Business Highway, Clayton.

CVA member, Catherine Donleycott is the Featured Artist at Texas Steakhouse

See Catherine’s watercolors and oil paintings on display at Texas Steakhouse in Smithfield.

Donleycott will be the Featured Artist through December. Texas Steakhouse is located near the Smithfield outlets.

Call to Artists: Holiday Market

Sell your artwork at Litmus Gallery’s Holiday Market


Litmus Gallery & Studios is accepting up to three art pieces from each artist, $99 and under. Delivery deadline is December 2nd. There will be a Holiday Open House on Sunday, December 10th as well as a wine reception on January 5th.

Your wares will be on display through January. Find all the details here. Litmus Gallery & Studios is located at 312 West Cabarrus Street, in Raleigh’s Warehouse District.

Call to Artists: NC Artists Exhibition

Raleigh Fine Arts Society is now taking submissions

The North Carolina Artists Exhibition is an annual statewide event that offers artists an opportunity to present their work and be juried by a renowned art professional.

This 2018 show marks the Artists Exhibition’s 40th anniversary since becoming first a regional and ultimately a statewide juried show. The NC Artists Exhibition is open to all North Carolina resident artists and all media. 2018 marks the second year that a four color printed catalog of the juried art will be published. Entry deadline is January 5, 2018. Learn more here.
