A reception at The Clayton Center, 111 E. Second St., on Feb. 4 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. will honor both Morrison and oil/acrylic painter Elisabeth Flock. Everyone is invited, children especially, and light refreshments — cookies, fruit, cheese, nuts, punch — will be served. The reception is free, and dress is casual.

Artist Bio

Born and raised in Southeast Texas, artist/photographer Michael Morrison has been painting and taking photographs for more than 35 years. He now resides in the Raleigh area and works in acrylic and other media.

His works are on display in galleries in the United States and abroad, including Italy, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Michael grew up near the ocean and has a passion for vivid colors with different works of art. He concentrates on landscapes and abstracts.

His artwork is currently being displayed at the USDA gallery in Washington, D.C., and in many other areas around the county.

Artist Statement

Michael contributes a portion of his artwork and proceeds from sales to several foundations, including Todd Rundgren’s Spirit of Harmony, in which he is making a creation of every one of Rundgren’s songs in a series.

Michael is a board member of Clayton Visual Arts and is very involved in the community.
