Princess Hester is both artist and scientist. She has looked at the world through many lenses. Her early career was in the Aerospace and Satellite Communications community where she looked to the stars.
With a BS in Mathematics from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, her positions ranged from being a ground controller for satellite launches and data acquisitions; data requirements analyst for the Hubble Space Telescope (pre-launch), and an orbit and altitude analyst for U.S. weather satellites with Loral Aerosys, to ending as a Senior Consultant in satellite communications with the Space Systems Command Group within Booz-Allen.
Following her love for the arts, she attained a MA in Communications from American University, Washington, DC and changed career paths. She used the video lens to frame issues and communications for the Department of Defense. Her career took her to places both near and far, where she looked at the world around her through the lens of her camera.
For the past twenty years, she has lent her production, business, and technology skills to both the public and private sectors; most recently with the Defense Media Activity as a Senior Producer/Project Officer and as the CEO/President of her own company Visual Consultants, LLC.
My current exhibit, “Accidental Tourist” was captured in various locations; from Alaska to Puerto Rico and many places in between.
I have always considered myself a humanist. In my collections, I not only examine what can be seen and measured, but the meaning beyond the surface. From the lyric quality of nature to the connection with people. Each show reflects the way I see the world through both mind and spirit. So, I enjoy capturing life spontaneously close-up through my lens to illicit an emotion; or at times, a call to action.
I hope you enjoy exploring the images as much as I enjoyed taking them. All of them, I can honestly say, I could look at every day and process differently, or just simply… smile.
