Introduced last year, “Purchase Awards” continued in 2015 at Art Faire.
A committee of Clayton Visual Arts members – President Amy Beshgetoorian, Carolyn Howard, and Medrith Nuttle – invited members of the Clayton business community to have first choice at purchasing Art Faire entries.
Four businesses or individuals took the opportunity. They were Mike Rodriguez, Novo Nordisk; Suzette Rodriguez, Johnston Health; Brent George, Four Oaks Bank; and James Lipscomb, HomeTowne Realty.
These artists received a Purchase Award:
- Jacqueline Balog of Willow Spring, “Elegance on the Wind,” a colored pencil work purchased by Mike Rodriguez of Novo Nordisk.
- Michael Morrison of Clayton, “What Lies Beyond the Horizon,” acrylic, purchased by James Lipscomb of HomeTowne Realty.
- Michael Shield of Clayton, “Portage Lake, Alaska,” photograph, purchased by Brent George of Four Oaks Bank.
- Francine Stephenson, “What’s Up, Kid?” a watercolor purchased by Suzette Rodriguez of Johnston Health.
Forty-four artists entered the competition, 27 from Clayton. There were 30 entries in fine art and 14 in photography. Total entries were limited to 50, due to space considerations at the Clayton Center Gallery.
All artwork is on exhibit in the Clayton Center until Oct. 1. The Center is open 9-5 Monday-Friday. The exhibit is free.
The Art Faire Committee was June Lioret, Kathleen Nobles, Janie Prete, and Don Stephenson. All members of Clayton Visual Arts had a hand in the production, and many members entered artwork.
